On this job in Olney, Maryland we installed a tan Rockwell elite window well with a plastic poly carbonate cover, and a 28 inch wide by 52 inch tall WITAL European tilt and turn window. There was no existing drainage or drain tile when we dug down to the footing. Because of this we needed to add a primary drain for code and also to make it so the window well never floods. We installed a 1/3 hp pro flow sump pump with a backflow prevention valve and one and a half inch PVC pipes. The sump pump is an external sump pump that is buried in the window well under about 6 inches of stone, the pipes then come up through the backfill on the outside of the window well up to grade where the water is ejected. We hauled out about 8 tons of dirt. We then planted grass seed and laid straw on the disturbed areas. This job was finished inside and outside, we used birch plywood for the interior extension jams and DC 99 for the casing. We also used on the exterior Versatech rot resistant composite board trim with OSI quad caulking .
